Dear Family and Friends,
Happy Monday!! We are hoping that this week truly begins our Spring season. It definitely was NOT last week. We hope that everyone is rested and ready for the final few months of school. This year has just flown by. So many gains have been made. Please keep in mind that this is the time of year where many notes will be going home regarding special events that may be happening, so please be sure to check your child’s backpack each night.
This week we will begin a new theme, Fur and Feathers which will focus on which animals make good pets and how to care for them. We will also discuss what animals would not make good pets and why they may be a problem
Our new KinderRoots book will be, Lost!, which focuses on the letter Ll. Students worked so hard reading our last book, even when the writing was smaller and there were more words on the page. We hope that the reading at home is going as well as the reading in class. Keep up the great job everyone!!
We will also begin a new math unit. This unit will focus on describing attributes of objects and data. We will use this information to sort, classify, count, order and compare. This is a fun hands on unit that all the students seem to enjoy.
In Writing, we have finished our informational writing. The students “how to” books were a treat to read. They put a lot of hard work into writing step by step instructions. We are now beginning to focus on Opinion writing. We are looking forward to reading stories that convince others to make a change.
On Friday, May 11th, there will be NO school for Kindergarten. This is the day that next year’s incoming kindergartners will visit. All other grades WILL have school. We are sure that you remember this day very well, a year goes by so very quickly!
Our Spring Concert will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 @ 6:30p.m. and doors will open at 6:00p.m. A notice went home prior to spring break but if you have any additional questions please let us know!
Have a great Day!!
Amy and Ashley
