Dear Parents and Friends,
Happy Monday! I hope everyone enjoyed the warmer temperature and are excited that the New England Patriots are going to the SUPER BOWL!! What a nerve wracking game! Yay, Patriots!!
We had lots of fun on Friday making ice cream from snow! It tasted really yummy and the children were shocked that we could do this. We even made a batch using chocolate milk! The recipe is simple - snow, vanilla, milk and sugar.
This week we will continue with our theme, Day and Night, Dark and Light. We will focus on Opposites and how they are two things that are related, but are very different from each other. A fun Unit for all!!
Our KinderRoots shared story this week is Nan’s Pet, which focuses on the letter p. As the week’s progress the books are getting harder for the children to read. So, please read each night with your child. We have been noticing that more and more children are not practicing their reading each night and are beginning to struggle when reading in class. Complete success with this program depends on reading both at school and home. Reading these stories only five times per week does not prepare the children for the next week’s book, which is more difficult. Thank you in advance for your support!
In Math this week, we will continue to concentrate on shapes. You can practice this skill at home by asking your child the shape of certain items or by asking them what shape a certain item is.
Again, thank you for sending in extra snacks for our class. They are very much appreciated. If anyone has any extra paper or plastic cups at home and would like to send them in, that would be great too. At this time, we are almost out of them. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
That is all of the new News we have for this week. Please remember that Library days are Tuesday for Mrs. Rawlings class and Thursdays for Mrs. McCants. We had many overdue books last week.
Have a Great Week!
Amy and Ashley
